Connecting the Continent
This website was created for the Centenary of Federation and includes a virtual tour, using over 300 VR scenes to link a 3,200 kilometre route from Port Augusta to Darwin. JABA conducted 16 workshops in remote communities along the route of the Overland Telegraph to create the content for this site. A special two week "on-line event" attracted more than 3.3 million hits and linked characters from the Australian outback with people from all over the world.
This site also features live webcams, audio interviews with local colourful characters, photo galleries and stories about the Overland Telegraph. The site is still active and provides a unique snapshot of outback Australia in 2001.
